it’s a form of network, share files and information, makes backing up easier. Various formats can be linked together

Linking allows you to share files without having to transfer them to an external drive.

You can link computers to share files, to play network games, to share an internet connection among others. There are lots of uses.

You can directly link them or put them in the same workgroup on a network. There can be lots of advantages to linking them including sharing external devices like printers. When linked and the drives are shared, data can be updated in one place and kept in sync.
